Over the summer, Rebecca saved $2,286 while working at the town pool. First she gave 1/3 of that money to her parents to repay a loan. She then spent $121 on clothes and $420 on books for college. Rebecca then earned $7 per hour for 8 hours with her friends. Rebecca is going to use the money she has left to start a checking account. How much money will she be depositing in her checking account?

Answer:

Over the summer, Rebecca saved $2,286 while working at the town pool

= +2286.00

First she gave 1/3 of that money to her parents to repay a loan

= -(1/3)*2286.00 = -762.00

She then spent $121 on clothes and $420 on books for college

= -(121 + 420) = -541.00

Rebecca then earned $7 per hour for 8 hours with her friends

= 7*8 = +56.00

Rebecca is going to use the money she has left to start a checking account. How much money will she be depositing in her checking account?

= +2286.00 - 762.00 - 541.00 + 56.00

= +1039

The final answer is: Rebecca will deposit $1039.00 in her checking account.
