Use the PEMDAS order of operations to simplify this expression:


PEMDAS order tells you what to do first, second, . . . etc.

As I’m sure you already know, PEMDAS stands for: parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction

NOTE that the expression 8{3(p - 4) + 17 - 2(5p - 2) + 3} contains three sets of parentheses: (p - 4), (5p - 2), and {3( ) + 17 - 2( ) + 3}.

∙ The ENTIRE PEMDAS PROCESS APPLIES separately, WITHIN EACH set of PARENTHESES.

∙ PEMDAS also applies to the overall expression 8{ }.


Therefore, you must begin by evaluating the expression within each parentheses separately, beginning with the innermost set of parentheses.

MY ANSWER=

8{3(p-4)+17-2(5p-2)+3}
= 8( 3p-12 +17 -10p +4 +3 )
= 8( 3p-10p +17+4+3 -12 )
= 8( -7p +24 -12 )
= 8( -7p +12 )
= -56p + 96
