The question:

rewrite the sentence replacing the question mark with a number that makes the sentence true

3/4 < ?/12

The answer:

One way to answer this question is to solve the inequality for the ?

I’m going to replace the ? with an x to put the inequality in a little more recognizable format.

3/4 < x/12

Multiply each side of the inequality by 12

(3/4) * 12 < (x/12) * 12

(3/4) * 12 < x

3 * (12/4) < x

3 * 3 < x

9 < x

The solution to our inequality is: x > 9, x must be greater than 9

So your question can be answered by choosing any number greater than 9 for the ? mark.

As an example, I’m going to choose 10.

3/4 < 10/12

Thanks for writing.
