by: Staff

Question:

if a number is multiplied by 7,the result is the same as when 25 is added to twice the number.find the number.

Answer:

n = number

if a number is multiplied by 7

7n

the result

=

is the same as when 25 is added to twice the number

25 + 2n

7n = 25 + 2n

Solve for “n”

7n = 25 + 2n

Subtract 2n from each side of the equation

7n - 2n = 25 + 2n - 2n

7n - 2n = 25 + 0

5n = 25 + 0

5n = 25

Divide each side of the equation by 5

5n / 5 = 25 / 5

n * (5/ 5) = 25 / 5

n * (1) = 25 / 5

n = 25 / 5

n = 5

>>> the final answer is: n = 5

Thanks for writing.
