f(K+2) = 2x + 4 + 8x


To make this a little easier to follow, I’m going to replace the K+2 with the variable x.

f(x) = 2x + 4 + 8x


Simplify the function f(x) by combining like terms.

f(x) = 2x + 4 + 8x

f(x) = 2x + 8x + 4

f(x) = (2x + 8x) + 4

f(x) = 10x + 4


To find f(K+2), substitute K+2 for x.

f(x) = 10x + 4

f(K+2) = 10*(K+2) + 4


Eliminate the parentheses using the Distributive Law.

f(K+2) = 10*(K+2) + 4

f(K+2) = 10*K + 10*2 + 4

f(K+2) = 10K + 20 + 4

f(K+2) = 10K + 24
