Question:

write eah fraction as an equivalen fraction with tqa denominator of 100 and as a percent.

3/4=
4/10=
1/2=

Answer:

You can change the denominator of any of these fractions to a denominator of 100 by multiplying the denominator by the number which will force the denominator to be 100.

As an example, the denominator of the first fraction is 4. If you multiply the 4 by 25, the denominator will be 100.

However, in order to preserve the value of the original fraction (3/4 in this case), both the numerator and denominator must each be multiplied by the same amount: 25.

To apply this concept, multiply the original fraction (3/4) by 25/25. The fraction 25/25 is equal to 1, so the original fraction is merely being multiplied by 1. As you can see by the following illustration, its value of the original fraction has not been changed.

= [original fraction]

= [original fraction] * (25 / 25)

= [original fraction] * 1

= [original fraction]

Therefore,

= [original fraction] * (25 / 25)

= (3 / 4) * (25 / 25)

Multiply both numerators and multiply both denominators, just as you would when multiplying any two fractions:

= (3 * 25) / (4 * 25)

= 75 / 100

Applying this idea to all three of your fractions:

1st fraction: 3 / 4

since 4 * 25 = 100, multiply the fraction by 25/25

3 / 4 = (3 / 4) * (25 / 25) = 75/100

3 / 4 = 75/100

2nd fraction: 4 / 10

since 10 * 10 = 100, multiply the fraction by 10/10

4 / 10 = (4 / 10) * (10 / 10) = 40 / 100

4 / 10 = 40 / 100

3rd fraction: 1/2

since 2 * 50 = 100, multiply the fraction by 50/50

1 / 2 = (1 / 2) * (50 / 50) = 50 / 100

1 / 2 = 50 / 100

The answer to the first part of your question is: equivalent fractions:

3 / 4 = 75 / 100

4 / 10 = 40 / 100

1 / 2 = 50 / 100

The second part of your question asks what percent each fraction represents. When the denominator of any fraction is 100, the numerator is the percent.

3 / 4 = 75/100 = 75% (the numerator of the fraction 75/100)

4 / 10 = 40 / 100 = 40% (the numerator of the fraction 40/100)

1 / 2 = 50 / 100 = 50% (the numerator of the fraction 50/100)

The final answer to your question is:

3 / 4 = 75 / 100 = 75%

4 / 10 = 40 / 100 = 40%

1 / 2 = 50 / 100 = 50%

Thanks for writing.
