Solve System of Logarithms
by: Staff

The question:

(1 pt) Solve the system
ln base (x)y=6
log base(2) y=3log base(2)x+3
x= y=

The answer:

Solve the system

ln base (x) of y = 6

x^6 = y

log base(2)y = 3log base(2)x + 3

log base(2)y - 3log base(2)x = 3log base(2)x - 3log base(2)x + 3

log base(2)y - 3log base(2)x = 0 + 3

log base(2)y - 3log base(2)x = 3

log base(2)y - log base(2)x^3 = 3

log2( y/(x^3) ) = 3

y/(x^3) = 2^3

x^6 = y

y/(x^3) = 2^3

x^6 /(x^3) = 2^3

x^3 = 2^3

x = 2

x^6 = y

2^6 = y

64 = y

The final answer is: x = 2, y = 64
