The question:

p(x)= 12x+10,000 i need to know what the 12 means in this problem

The answer:

p(x)= 12x+10,000

p(x) means that p is a function of the variable x

If it is easier to understand, you could write

y = 12x+10,000

the coefficient of 12 means that x is multiplied by 12

this could be written

p(x)= 12*x+10,000

If this equation were to be plotted on x-y coordinates, the coefficient of 12 would also be the slope of the curve. In this case 12 = a positive slope of 12/1.

Thanks for writing.
