The question:

by Victoria Esslinger
(Gurley, Al. US)

I am suppose to determine this set: ( A U B) ¿ (A U B)'.... I am confused, because all that I have read in my text book, it mentions that I need numbers to solve.

The answer:

As you can see, not all of your notation is displayed properly. I’m not quite sure what you are asking.

The “∪”symbol stands for the union of two sets. It simply means all of the elements of both sets are combined.

For example, consider the following sets:

A = {1, 2, 8, 17}

B = {tree, flower, honeybee, cloud}

A ∪ B

= {1, 2, 8, 17} ∪ {tree, flower, honeybee, cloud}

= {1, 2, 8, 17, tree, flower, honeybee, cloud}

Thanks for writing.
