how would i write 12/64 in the simplest form? my answer is 3/16 is this correct?

Answer:

You are correct. Reducing the fraction 12/64 to its lowest terms = 3/16.

Factor the numerator and denominator, and then cancel the common factors.

12 / 64

= (2 * 2 * 3) / (2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2)

= [(3) / (2 * 2 * 2 * 2)] * (2 / 2) * (2 / 2)

= [(3) / (2 * 2 * 2 * 2)] * (1) * (1)

= (3) / (2 * 2 * 2 * 2)

= (3) / (16)

= 3 / 16

You can check your answer with a calculator as follows:

12 / 64 = 0.1875

3 / 16 = 0.1875

12 / 64 = 0.1875 = 3 / 16

12 / 64 = 3 / 16

Thanks for writing.
