The question:

For each sequence, find a formula for the general term, an.

For example, answer n2 if given the sequence:
{1,4,9,16,25,36}

_________________________:{1/3,1/6,1/9,1/12....}
_________________________:{1/3,1/9,1/27,1/81...}

The answer:

{1,4,9,16,25,36….}

1² = 1
2² = 4
3² = 9
4² = 16

formula for the general term a_n = n²

(a series of integer squares)



{1/3,1/6,1/9,1/12....}

1/3*1) = 1/3
1/(3*2) = 1/6
1/(3*3) = 1/9
1/(3*4) = 1/12

formula for the general term: a_n = 1/(3n)



1/3,1/9,1/27,1/81...}

1/3¹ = 1/3
1/3² = 1/9
1/3³ = 1/27
1/3⁴ = 1/81

formula for the general term: a_n = 1/(3ⁿ)
