Explain two ways in which you could simplify x5/x0

Answer:

x⁵/x⁰

This is a good question because it shows you that there is more than one way to simplify this fraction.

1st approach

Anything to the zero power = 1

x⁰ = 1

x⁵/x⁰

substitute 1 for x⁰

= x⁵/1

= x⁵

2nd approach

Subtract the exponents

x⁵/x⁰

= x⁽⁵⁻⁰⁾

= x⁵

The final answer is: x⁵/x⁰ = x⁵
