I was able to simplify cos(x)*sin(x) + sec(x)*cos^2(x), but the result does not match your problem statement.


cos(x)*sin(x) + sec(x)*cos^2(x)
sec x = 1/cos x


cosx*sinx + [1/cos(x)] *[cos^2(x)]

cos(x)*sin(x) + cos(x)

cos(x)*[sin(x) + 1]
