Apply the 30% sale discount and the

sale discount = 30% * $50

Before multiplying these two numbers, the 30% must be converted to its decimal equivalent. To convert any percent to its decimal equivalent, divide the % by 100.

30%/100 = 0.30

sale discount = 0.30 * $50

sale discount = $15 discount


then 20% early bird discount

(the statement of the problem does not specify whether the 20% early bird discount is 20% of the regular price or 20% of the price after the sale discount. I assume the 20% early bird discount is 20% of the regular price)

early bird discount = 20% * $50
